tending the heart during the turn of seasons

i don’t know about you, but at times like equinox and solstice… i feel a shift energetically and emotionally that can leave me feeling raw and exhausted. as we sit at the autumn equinox today, i feel inspired to share a list of action items that can support anxiety and emotional transition into new seasons.

plant feet, bare on the earth

what do you notice? how is the earth holding you?

create, draw, paint, write

lean into reflection. what is changing?

what part of yourself do you want to meet this new season?

notice the light, notice the plants

our bodies crave connection to rhythm- how has the light shifted? what plants have died? what is in full bloom? how long is your shadow on the ground beneath you?

set the phone down

reduce input. allow yourself the space to be slow and soft. is there a book you can pick up? is there an altar to be renewed?

set intentions

the wheel of the year offers opportunity to clarify an upcoming season. what do you hope for? what aspects of yourself desire awakening? what parts of yourself desire slowing down into slumber?

reach towards connection

who in your world can you share this practice with? what therapist, healer, or guide can you contact to support the emotional and spiritual shift of moving towards the dark?

whether it is anxiety, ambivelence, fear, sadness, grief, or the gentle tug of depression…. connecting with trusted others can be the touchstone of moving with the shifts enlivened with the turning season. if you are interested in hearing more tools to cope with anxiety, seasonal depression, or emotional distress, feel free to reach out. <3
